VÚB and ZMOS partnership enters another year

VÚB Bank and the Association of Towns and Municipalities of Slovakia (ZMOS) have once again reaffirmed their exceptional relationship and officially signed a Cooperation and Partnership Agreement for the eleventh time. For more than a decade, they have been working together to support the sustainable development and modernization of our towns and municipalities.

“After reaching a significant milestone in our cooperation last year, I am pleased that we are continuing this partnership with ZMOS. VÚB Bank has thus become a leading financial partner for Slovak local governments,” said Vedrana Jelušić Kašić, Executive Director of Corporate Banking and a member of the Management Board at VÚB Bank.

“Today, local governments face growing challenges in the areas of climate change adaptation, environmental protection, energy efficiency, and the modernization of public infrastructure. Supporting investments that make cities and municipalities more resilient and sustainable is crucial for Slovakia’s future. Through our ongoing partnership with ZMOS, we want to continue helping them and co-financing important projects for their residents,” adds Vedrana Jelušić Kašić.

Investments That Shape the Future of Regions

VÚB Bank’s clients now include more than 2,100 Slovak cities and municipalities, representing nearly three-quarters of all local governments in the country. In addition to the local governments themselves, the bank provides comprehensive financial services to nearly 1,400 of their organizations—ranging from schools, social care facilities, and cultural institutions to technical service companies, transportation companies, and sports infrastructure managers.

In 2025, VÚB Bank provided more than 200 new loans to local governments totaling over 250 million euros. These funds are earmarked for projects that improve local infrastructure, increase energy efficiency, and strengthen environmental sustainability throughout Slovakia. Local governments will continue to draw on these funds throughout 2026, with related investments proceeding steadily through 2027.

A Stable Partner for Local Governments

As the largest local government organization in Slovakia, ZMOS brings together 2,791 cities, municipalities, and city districts of Bratislava and Košice, representing approximately 95% of all Slovak local governments.

“For Slovak cities and municipalities, it is more important today than ever before to have a strong, reliable, and stable financial partner by their side. For eleven years, VÚB Bank has been helping local governments implement projects that improve public services, modernize infrastructure, and address the challenges facing our communities. We look forward to continuing our cooperation and implementing new projects that will support regional development and the well-being of our citizens,” says ZMOS Chairman Jozef Božik.
