What is 3D Secure?
This is a service that additionally verifies your VISA and Mastercard payments to increase security. During the online card payment, you will be prompted to confirm the payment via 3D Secure. Slovak and foreign online shops that support 3D Secure authentication have Mastercard ID Check and Visa Secure logos.

How do I verify a payment via 3D Secure?
You can verify the payment using one of the following methods:
- in the VÚB Banking mobile app (new) using your mobile PIN or fingerprint/face recognition
- with an SMS code and the card password
- with a QR code through the new VÚB Banking app
- in the VÚB Mobil Banking app using your mobile PIN or fingerprint/face recognition
- in the VÚB Junior Banking app using your mobile PIN or fingerprint/face recognition

If you did not receive the PUSH notification or you dismissed it by mistake, you can choose another verification method on the merchant’s page by clicking the link “CHOOSE ANOTHER VERIFICATION METHOD.”
To be able to confirm payments through the mobile app, make sure that:

Your mobile phone is connected to the internet.

You have the mobile banking app installed and activated.

PUSH notifications are enabled both on your phone and in the app.
You can find PUSH notification settings in your phone under Settings – Apps (select VÚB Banking or VÚB Mobil Banking) → Notifications.
TIP: If you have not actively used the VÚB Banking app recently (your last login was more than 30 days ago), we recommend logging in again and then repeating the payment.
Information about the success of the payment is shown on the merchant’s page. Check your card limits.
Repeat the payment, and after confirming it in the mobile app, you must return to the merchant’s page and follow the instructions shown.
On the merchant’s page, click the link “CHOOSE ANOTHER VERIFICATION METHOD.” Other available verification options will then be displayed for you to choose from.
The card password is a security element provided in your card contract. You can also find it:
- in the new VÚB Banking mobile app under “My cards” – “Settings and limits”, or
- in Internet Banking under “Card details”. Here, you can view it and also change it anytime free of charge. Instructions on how to find or change the card password in Internet Banking are available in this video.
- You can also obtain your password at any VÚB Bank branch. It will be provided only to you as the cardholder after verifying your identity with your ID card.
You have 3 attempts to enter the correct security code and password.
If the security information is entered incorrectly three times, you will be redirected back to the merchant’s page, and for security reasons, your ability to make 3D Secure online payments will be blocked for 60 minutes. After 60 minutes, you can pay online again.
If you repeatedly enter incorrect security details, your card will be blocked for 3D Secure online payments.
You can request card unblocking by calling Kontakt at 0850 123 000 (from abroad: +421 2 4855 5970).
IMPORTANT! With SMS authorization, the security code can be entered only once. If you make a mistake, request a new SMS code by clicking “Send new SMS code.” A new SMS with a new security code will be generated and sent.
Your mobile phone must support fingerprint/Face ID. Then you can confirm online card payments using biometrics. You also need to activate card transaction authorization in:
- VÚB Mobil Banking – Settings → Fingerprint login → Card transaction authorization
- VÚB Banking (new) – Settings → Login & Security → Biometrics → Card transactions
The payment was assessed by the bank as safe, so no additional verification was required.
This can happen, for example, for low‑value payments or recurring payments.
If you do not remember your login credentials or you have locked the VÚB Banking app, you can reactivate the app and then use it again for 3D Secure online payment verification.
Please call Kontakt (0850 123 000, from abroad +421 2 4855 5970) immediately so we can check the payment. If you did not make the payment, we will block your card to prevent misuse.
You can also deactivate or permanently block your card through the mobile banking app:

VÚB Banking (new): My cards → quick access icon (bottom right) → Block/reissue card for credit cards, or Temporary card deactivation for debit cards

VÚB Mobil Banking: Cards → three dots (top right) → Permanent card blocking (credit cards) or Temporary deactivation (debit cards)
You must have your mobile phone connected to the internet, the banking mobile app installed and activated, and PUSH notifications enabled both in your phone and in the app.
For merchants who do not support 3D Secure, you only need to enter your card details (card number, expiry date, and 3‑digit security code).
Use extreme caution — the risk of card misuse is much higher in an unsecured environment.
The transaction is completed without verifying the cardholder via Nonstop Banking / VÚB Online Banking security elements.
You can cancel the payment in the VÚB Banking app by clicking the X in the top right corner or by pressing “Cancel.”
In both cases, you must enter your PIN or biometric authentication to confirm the cancellation.
Alternatively, if you do not want to confirm the payment at all, simply close the app and wait 180 seconds.
The push notification becomes invalid after 180 seconds and the payment confirmation screen will automatically close.
