3D Secure

A new, more innovative way of verifying your card payments on the Internet.

What is 3D Secure?

This is a service that additionally verifies your VISA and Mastercard payments to increase security. During the online card payment, you will be prompted to confirm the payment via 3D Secure. Slovak and foreign online shops that support 3D Secure authentication have Mastercard ID Check and Visa Secure logos.

 

How do I confirm a payment via 3D Secure?

In one of the following three ways:

  • Directly in the VÚB Mobile Banking app via Mobile PIN or fingerprint/FaceID
  • SMS code and password for the card
  • Code from the VÚB token app

1. Payment confirmation procedure

After entering the card details (card number, expiry date and CVC/CVV code), a screen will appear with a detailed procedure on how to confirm the card payment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Open the push notification

Open the push notification we sent to the device with your banking mobile app.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Review the payment details

The details of the card payment you are confirming will be displayed. After reviewing them, tap “Continue”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. Confirm with PIN or biometrics

Confirm the payment either with your Mobile PIN (a 6–8 digit code used to log in to the new app) or with biometric authentication – fingerprint or Face ID.

 

TIP: If you previously used the VÚB Mobil Banking mobile app to confirm online card payments, the Mobile PIN for that app was 4 digits. When using the new VÚB Banking mobile app, the Mobile PIN is 6 to 8 digits. Please make sure you are using the correct Mobile PIN to log in to the mobile app. 

Can’t remember your login details or have you blocked the VÚB Banking app? 

You can reactivate the app and then use it again to confirm online payments via 3D Secure.

5. Return to the merchant’s website

After successfully verifying your payment, return to the merchant's site.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Confirmation via SMS code and card password

If you enter a code from a text message when confirming your card payment online, you will also need to enter your CARD PASSWORD for added security.

1. Payment confirmation procedure

After entering the card details (card number, expiry date and CVC/CVV code), a screen will appear with a detailed procedure on how to confirm the card payment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Enter the SMS code

If you have chosen to verify with the SMS code and password for your card, you will see a screen to enter the SMS code that we have sent to your phone number.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Enter your card password

On the next screen, you need to enter your card password. If you can’t remember your card password, you can find it:

  • in the new VÚB Banking mobile app under “My cards” and “Settings and limits” – see this video.
  • in Internet Banking. Instructions on how to find or change your password in Internet Banking can be found in this video.

Please remember the displayed password – you will need to enter it every time you confirm a card payment if you choose this verification method.

4. Return to the merchant’s website

After successfully verifying your payment, return to the merchant's site.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Confirmation via QR code in the VÚB Banking app

You can also confirm your card payment using a QR code in the VÚB Banking app.

1. Generate a security code

If you choose QR code verification, you need to generate a security code to confirm the card payment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Open VÚB Banking (Digital code)

Open the VÚB Banking app and tap “Digital code” in the bottom-right corner.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Tap “Swipe to scan QR”

After opening “Digital code”, tap “Swipe to scan QR” at the bottom of the screen. The code shown on this screen is not entered anywhere.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. Scan the QR code

The camera will open so you can scan the QR code from the merchant’s website. You can also scan a QR code from your gallery.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. Review details and tap “Continue”

After scanning the QR code, a screen with payment details will appear. Review them and tap “Continue”.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

6. Enter the generated code

After confirming with biometrics or a 6–8 digit Mobile PIN in the new app, a screen with a (generated) numeric code will appear. Enter this code on the merchant’s website.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

7. Return to the merchant’s website

After successfully verifying your payment, return to the merchant's site.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Confirmation via the VÚB Mobil Banking app

Payment verification via the VÚB Mobil Banking mobile app is possible if you have one of the following active:

  • the VÚB Mobil Banking mobile app, or
  • both mobile apps at the same time – VÚB Mobil Banking and VÚB Banking.

1. Payment confirmation procedure

After entering the card details (card number, expiry date and CVC/CVV code), a screen will appear with a detailed procedure on how to confirm the card payment.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. Open the push notification

Open the push notification we sent to the device with your banking mobile app. If you don’t notice the push notification or it doesn’t appear, you can also confirm the payment directly after logging in to the banking mobile app.

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Review the payment details

You will then see the details of the card payment you are confirming.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. Confirm with PIN or biometrics

Confirm the payment either with your Mobile PIN (the code used to log in to the app) or with biometric authentication – fingerprint or Face ID.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. Return to the merchant’s website
