Analytics team and contact information

The Corporate Strategy and Economic Analysis Department focuses on economic analysis of the Slovak economy and publishes reports that are distributed to the bank's institutional, corporate and retail clients. The members of the analytical team consistently analyze the latest trends in the economy and use their knowledge of the economic environment to inform clients about the latest economic developments in a timely manner. The analytical team of VUB Bank has experience with economic analysis gained in prestigious institutions at home and abroad.

Zdenko Štefanides, Chief economist
Zdenko Štefanides joined the analytical team of VUB Bank in January 2004, and in October he was appointed its head. In 2000-03 he worked as Vice President and Economic Analyst for Central and Eastern Europe at JP Morgan in London. And it was the JP Morgan team of which Z. Štefanides was a member that was ranked first in macroeconomic research of emerging markets by Institutional Investor in 2001-03. Before that, he worked in the monetary department of the National Bank of Slovakia. Zdenko Štefanides received a Master of Science degree in applied econometrics and quantitative analysis from Cornell University in the USA in 1997. His academic works were published, for example, in the magazines Applied Economics and American Journal of Agricultural Economics.

Michal Lehuta, macroeconomist senior
Michal Lehuta graduated in integrated social sciences and international relations from Jacobs University Bremen in Germany. He started as an economic analyst in the analytical unit of the weekly magazine TREND, for which he later wrote. He spent a year professionally at the independent Council for Budget Responsibility. In 2015, together with a colleague from TREND, he won the Journalist Award for the best analytical contribution. He joined VUB Bank as a macroeconomist in 2019.
