The Corporate strategy and economic research department is focused on economic analyses of the Slovak economy and publishes a wide range of reports, which are distributed to the bank’s institutional, corporate as well as individual clients. Members of analyst team thoroughly analyse the latest trends in the Slovak economy and make use of their knowledge of the economic environment so that they can timely inform clients on the latest economic development. Analytical team of VUB Bank has experience in economic analyses acquired in prestigious institutions both, home and abroad.

Zdenko Štefanides, Chief economist
Zdenko Stefanides joined VUB research team in January 2004, in October he was assigned to lead his colleagues. Prior to VUB, Zdenko worked in 2000-03 for JPMorgan in London, where he was vice president and research analyst for Central and Eastern Europe. Institutional Investor ranked the team Zdenko worked with in London number one in emerging markets research during the years 2001-03. Before then, he worked for the monetary department of the National Bank of Slovakia. Zdenko Stefanides received his Master of Science degree in applied econometrics and quantitative analysis at Cornell University, USA, in 1997. His academic work has been published in Applied Economics and the American Journal of Agricultural Economics.
Andrej Arady, macroeconomist
Andrej Arady has been working for VUB since 2010 and he specializes on macroeconomic and sectorial analysis of the Slovak economy. He studied financial mathematics, economics and economic informatics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics of Comenius University in Bratislava, and at the Faculty of Economic Informatics of the University of Economics in Bratislava. He gained further education during his studies at Friedrich Schiller University in Jena, Germany and at the Center for Economic Research and Graduate Education – Economics Institute (CERGE-EI) in Prague.
