“The Discovery of the year 2007” Award for Maestro GOOD ANGEL debit card
Bratislava, September 10, 2008 – The charity debit card Maestro GOOD ANGEL was granted the The Discovery of the Year 2007 Award in the Golden Coin competition. After the 2007 Golden Coin for Best debit card in Slovakia and Via Bona award for courage to support innovative projects this is already the third important award VUB has received for this product.
“It is the charity system of GOOD ANGEL itself that deserves the attention at first place,“ said Ignacio Jaquotot, CEO of VUB bank. “The payment card is just an instrument by which the purpose of the system, i.e. to support the families in need, is fulfilled. However, we are more than happy that the experts in jury have noticed and awarded this product.“
VÚB Bank launched the GOOD ANGEL charity cards in June last year. The Bank directs 1% of each payment charged on GOOD ANGEL cards to the GOOD ANGEL Non-profit Organization. Each GOOD ANGEL cardholder can thus support families with children where a family member suffers from cancer and families with a child suffering from other serious diseases such as cerebral palsy, cystic fibrosis or chronic kidney failure. The whole project is really unique since the cardholder does not pay a single cent for supporting GOOD ANGEL system and VUB grants on donor’s behalf the financial support and bears costs related therewith. In addition, the cardholder can see via the Internet which family receives the donation.
The jury consisting of 49 members, decided on the “Discovery of the Year 2007” Award. Apart from our product, other financial products (Family accident insurance - AXA, Legal protection insurance - Wüstenrot, mKONTO account – mBank) were granted the award.
VUB is a member of the international banking group Intesa Sanpaolo that operates in more than 40 countries worldwide. The Bank runs 210 retail branches, 32 corporate branches, 11 mortgage centres across Slovakia and 1 branch in the Czech Republic.
